    Our Core Beliefs

    About the Scriptures:
    • We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.
    About God :
    • We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.
    About Humanity:
    • We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.
    About Salvation:
    • We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
    About the Christian Life:
    • We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
    About the Church:
    • We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ.
    • The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.

    The Pillars of our Church

In the early 1900's, three young girls were born who in later years would be known as the Pillars of Georgetown Baptist Church, or affectionately called "the three old ladies". During her growing up years, Lottie taught Sunday School at the church. Ella and Myrtle became Christians in later years and were very faithful to the work in Georgetown.

All three ladies were great prayer warriors.  Ella did the church books for many years.  She was also instrumental in saving the church from being sold to the Royal Canadian Legion.  Myrtle became the church organist.  Even though she moved to Charlottetown with her family, her heart was always with the work here.  She came out to Georgetown faithfully on weekends so she could be here to play for the services.

Lottie, Ella and Myrtle were community minded.  The church was closed for a number of years, but their faith was so strong that they believed that one day God would open the doors to the Gospel.  They tithed faithfully toward that purpose and in the late 1940's, they began to see the church grow as visiting preachers shared the good news in Georgetown.  But, once again, the church doors were closed, and the ladies continued to pray and trust in the Lord to bring a Godly man to serve the church.

In May of 1977, John Luten arrived to share the Word.  Even though there were only five members, God was going to bless His word and use His servant to pave the way for greater things.

Whenever the doors of the church were opened, these three ladies would be there with faces glowing.  It was through the prayers and the faithfulness of these three ladies that the church grew and is still operating today.
